That is why I have mixed feelings about National Coming Out Day.

Because you don't just come out and it's over. It's never over. You can only come out to the people you have met. Every time you run into new people, the "Is it worth it? Its it safe? Is it okay if they tell the people they know? [ad nauseam]" cycle starts all over again.

Or it's someone you know you will only see the once, and they make a heteronormative assumption, and you have to judge if a stranger's unknown response is worth correcting them.

Or people forget (or, more often, "forget").

So while I acknowledge the value of a day in recognition of the fact that coming out is still a Thing, and a thing that many people want to do and are comfortable doing, and might even, by existing, be the nudge someone who has been hesitant-but-not-afraid needs to just do it...

One day?

It's a pretty big lie.

"LiveJournal.com is currently unavailable due to emergency maintenance. Don't worry, this has nothing to do with our recent company layoffs! It's a technical problem, not a lack-of-personnel problem."

The bolding was me, but still. Heeeeeee.

For things like this.

Also:

I'm totally late posting about this, but I want to give my friends gifts this year even though I am of the FUCKING POOR, so I'm going to write a ficlet/flopsy/drabble/whatever for everyone who asks. I can write something original from a prompt, or you can hand me a fandom I know and characters (just not Hedwig; love it, but I'd never do it justice).

Or you could ask for poetry. Whatevs. Just ask soon, or I may not have it for you in time for gift-giving deadlines.

Um, you guys? I just finished a fic that took a massive, sudden, and TOTALLY OBVIOUS IN RETROSPECT WOW I AM STUPID swerve in the last chapter, and I still have tear trails like five minutes later.

But you know what? The music from Evangelion that popped up next on my playlist helped cheer me up.

I repeat:

Eva. Cheered me up. From being sad.

It's been nice knowing you all, hope the Apocalypse is short.

So I went to The Terrible Crossover Fanfiction Idea Generator and it told me this:

Your challenge is to write crossover fanfiction combining Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and Scientology. The story should use creepy interent fetishes as a plot device!

How is that a terrible idea, again?

Marie (to Matt, out of nowhere): You said she was sixteen. You lie!

Later:
Marie: It was that girl from Pokemon!
