Doctor Who 4x03 - The Planet of the Ood
I WANT TO HAVE CATHERINE TATE'S BABIES
It's always the little touches that show something's brilliance. Like the Ood clearly, but never blatantly, considering DoctorDonna one entity as, after all, the Ood are are a hivemind. Plus, while the Doctor was shouting "Doctor!Donna!Friend!" at the Ood, and that's the phrase that kept being brought back up to them, it was also clearly Donna's concurrent shouting of "The circle must be broken!" that stopped the redeye.
And man, is Donna exactly what the Doctor needs. The writing seems spot on, and Catherine Tate is so good at filling in moments with what can't have been in the script that I really don't know for sure.
Plus: the episode absolutely lived up to everything you would expect from the title and even managed to include a slave story that didn't detract from what was going on, no matter how obvious the indicators. Plus, you don't get Massa literally becoming what he once "owned" in most slave stories, and that's really the best karmic justice you can provide. Even if it involves barfing brains.
Holding out on commentary on the new theme, because I still don't know what I make of it.
