Certainly wrapped things up in a generally unified way, though... a little disappointing.

One, I really don't care why the Vashda Nerata are there. They appeared suddenly 100 years ago and everyone was saved that's all that matters. I guess the fact that the books were made from their forest is reason to give them the library at the end, but that whole negotiation felt a bit off. What will they get, having the library? Another forever with no food?

And as much as I love that Evangelista played her part, did she really need the intelligence boost to do it? Because that means it wasn't the Evangelista I wanted to play a part playing a part. It was a brilliant woman with sort-of the right face and shared memories. Couldn't she have been so stupid that she saw through the fake? She seems the kind of person who, when doing nothing, would be looking at everything, y'know? I don't think she needed the boosted IQ in order to see the duplicated kids, and of course she'd accept the dream-logic and roll with it; that's how she lives. She wouldn't even realize it was anything notable, but she'd notice it all the same. Moffat copped out.

Even moreso when all of a sudden there are uncorrupted transfers of all of River's crewmates, but that's minor. Although WTF Doctor, giving River forever-life as a reward when exactly this time last season it was the Family of Blood's punishment.

And sure, Moffat, "everybody lives" again, except they're all living a hundred years later. (Nearly) everyone and everything they knew and loved is gone, now. Even if they're not outright gone, they're still one hundred years moved on from when the saved people left them. That is not a happy ending.

I mean, overall, it was a very good episode, rollicking along and bringing everything together. But there are just these little things all over the place (don't forget the unnecessary torture Donna's man goes through!) that interrupt the fun.
