I... I Hate People Right Now

So, sometime Sunday, the tri-state area lost power. I've heard that anyone who gets their power from Duke Energy has lost it, and that's a lot of people. Now, the university got their power back for a few hours at around 10, and then lost it again around 2 (but they had backup generators at least running emergency lighting the whole time). Oxford outside the university has not had power since it first went out, and here's the possibility that it will continue to lack power for days.
Now, a lot of students live off-campus, and a lot of cell phones have run out of power recently or are about to, so many off-campus students are not going to have any reliable way to wake up in the morning.
The university cancelled classes today, but somewhere around 4-ish, they sent out texts over he emergency texting system letting students know that classes are on for tomorrow. Word passed quickly, as well as indignation.
Now, many of these students who live off-campus, having no electricity and therefore "nothing" to do in this electronic age, got drunk. And they're mad about class tomorrow. Now, I believe that most professors are going to be fairly lenient with off-campus students about attendance, especially with morning classes, but rather than be rational, these students have been "protesting" outside President Hodge's house for about an hour now.
Except, really, for the past 59 minutes or so, it's just been a fucking riot. And they chanted "Hell no, we won't go" at he cop for a while, for which they deserve to be shot. You don't get to reappropriate that for your drunken, special-snowflake protest about the fact that the University would like to continue doing what you pay them to do.
But other than this riot, I've been enjoying the extra time with my friends due to the outage (I'm stealing power and internet from their dorm right now.)
